Killswitch Engage is one of metal bands I got into years ago, before I was even into metal. Anthemic choruses, mixture of clean and unclean vocals, lyrics I didn’t think too much about but I guess it all kind of added to the vibe. Since becoming a metalhead a couple of years ago, I revisited those tunes that hooked me; Arms Of Sorrow, My Curse, The End of Heartache etc. bringing back those memories. When I began following the indie rock/metal scene a couple of years ago as you may know, Woolpack Live became one of my regular spots.
Last night reminded me of the first time I went to The Woolpack and when my music taste was at a crossroads. Two different eras colliding, probably the biggest hit of nostalgia ever. What a night. Hearing those tunes live by a tribute band on a par with the real thing really brings it to life. On a high I still haven’t come down from.
